Project frozen (Corsairs 4)
Due to the lack of money to continue the work, the project is temporarily frozen until autumn, and then it will be seen ... However, with the light hand of Akella, the ghostly outlines of GPK2 appeared on the horizon ...well done! keep it up!)
though it would be even better to attract your friends who are interested in the project, so that they also vote. After all, many fans do not even suspect that this way they can support the project.
The guys from Seaward, in addition to fan support, need to promote an advertising campaign - to give (buy) interviews to leading gaming magazines, especially abroad. Describing your fantasies ... Create a couple of videos and post them on your website and all game ones (bright concept drawings and 3D models) describing the beauty of the game and the energy of the gameplay, etc. Participate in international game exhibitions. And then they sit and pick their noses, believing that the game will spin by itself. Let the investors be spurred on, it doesn't cost so much money. A good way to periodically post game ads with links on promoted sites. And to hope only for support from fans is a road to a dead end. Then, really, the cost of producing din will not be justified by the income from its sale. It's another matter, figuratively, when a queue will line up on the day of release. Take the same Stalker.
correctly said, otherwise by unsubscribing that the project is frozen, you can't do advertising
corsairs in 20 have never entered, if I'm not mistaken
they have a certain number of fans, 44th place is the very expression,
so here the current is to rely on God or something XD
IMHO The number of fans directly depends on the quality of the game, and its promotion. As far as I have read Corsairs is the only game of this kind in the world (!) Playgame. No one behind the hill has created a standing simulator of sea travel + the atmosphere of a pirate life. True, Total Var tried to recreate the atmosphere of sailing sea battles, has not yet played, therefore I will not say or they managed to realize them with dignity. But here's the drive of pirate romance, except for the Corsairs from Akell, so far no one has adequately released. So Seaward has every opportunity to break into the global market and take a leading position there.
And then I thought: maybe they sold the idea of where the thread for the hillock, and now they sculpt excuses - the project is frozen :)
I still play Empire total War. We haven’t been close to the corsairs on the part of the sea yet, but I do not value them for naval battles - I just like this series. But what is really not clear is that Akella for some reason does not use his position and does not sell the series in Western markets with advertising (which is not in Western markets either). And they also say that it's frozen ... They don't pay much attention to the Corsairs, but in vain ...
maybe the freezing is somehow connected with the release of "corsairs online"? there you have to pay monthly, sort of.
I think that K4 should be able to play on the network, on servers, etc. And that would be the best option! dreaming is not forbidden)
but I would suggest that all the fans of the Corsairs would have chipped 5 bucks for Deglucation of an existing game. For example 123HE or 124FT.
50 people would have chipped in ... and here it is a salary of $ 250 to one (responsible!) Person for a month of work on deluxing your favorite game!
But this, of course, is from the realm of fantasy. As usual, they will be deceived, thrown ...
... in general, they will hang themselves on the yard from such news ...
maybe the freezing is somehow sideways connected with the release of "corsairs online"? there you have to pay monthly, sort of.
very doubtful, since Corsairs Online is a side project in which Akella acts only as a localizer.
and I would suggest this: so that all fans of the Corsairs would chip in 5 bucks for Deglucation of an existing game. For example 123HE or 124FT.
On the Sivard.ru forum, a similar proposal has already been expressed, or rather, it was proposed to attract fans to the financing of the project, but the creators of the game refused this option. After all, the problem is the lack of money for development :(
... it was proposed to attract fans to finance the project, but the creators of the game refused this option. After all, the problem is the lack of money for development: (
well, here I am, for example, one of the authors of the scripts. Give me $ 250 and I will fix the main bugs of the game within a month. (List of errors compiled by fans). I would agree!
And if I became a VIP and this $ 250 is a penny to me, I would give the scripts to reliable people - let them sort it out and modify it.
Otherwise, like a dog in the manger, they can't fix it themselves, and they don't give it to others.
But who is spending nerves ?! , Tazovar participants! and thousands more fans of this game.
I'll tell you what, money spoils people. The crown will fall off chtoli from this Eddie or Alexus to bring the matter to the end ?! I don’t know which one of them made all this pirate mess, but if we have already started, we need to finish it. not like a man! not captain's way!
As far as I understand, the development of the game is not even on the pre-alpha version now. This is roughly halfway between concept and pre-alpha.
a guest from the future is naive.))
Do you really think that it will be enough for the game to add a couple of scripts for the final?
Do not forget that the game consists not only of scripts (I understand it means the engine, the game code). Namely and consequently, more is required:
1. music.
2. sounds.
3. voice acting.
4. plot.
5. elaborated world. (so that there are no questions what? yes how? yes why?).
6. 3D models. (ships, characters, weapons, animals and all sorts of rubbish, houses, etc.)
7. animation (the same ships, characters, animals).
8. combat system ... you can list for a long time.
... all this needs to be crammed into the game, and so that it all works smoothly and without brakes as a whole.
Now estimate how many human resources are needed? Not 2x, not 3x, and 5 of the most talented modders are not enough. In addition, let them work for 1000 bucks. Unrealistic.
Plus, you need money for advertising and promotion of the project.
Well, in my opinion, as the developers did - nothing good. _anry_, you have listed many, and in the campaign you acted in the "" best "" way - instead of everything that you listed, you simply froze the project. I hope that at least not completely frozen ... This is the easiest way to get rid of the problems you listed ... That is why I am angry with the campaign funding the development of K4.
In the previous post, I just wanted to say that fans cannot pull such a project as corsairs 4.
Well, they gave the game to the fans for the development (which of course is from the realm of fantasy). And what do we get? Another unplayable trash that the Russian industry can only boast of. Really good games made within the Russian Federation, God forbid, there will be a dozen.
And here the fans come in, give us, give us, we will do everything, and even for a penny, or even free of charge. But no one thought about the quality of the product that might turn out.
I believe that Corsairs 4 claims to be an AAA-class game, and of course, it is impossible to make an AAA-class game on fan enthusiasm alone without serious financial investments.
Akella can be understood too. The project was frozen around May of this year. Apparently around the same time, funding stopped.
Let me remind you that May-early summer was the height of the world. fin. crisis in growing. industry, when a huge number of Russian studios went bankrupt, grew. the gaming industry has not shaken weakly. And here it is not surprising that funding was closed, because it seems that a lot of money was allocated. No one was going to scatter funds to the left and to the right, because companies were threatened with bankruptcy and every penny was in the account.
The industry is now on its feet. And I'm 99% :) sure that in the near future there will be new investors or Akella will start financing again, or both.
In short, we do not despair, gentlemen, and believe in the project. All. went to bed.)
Here Igromir passed not a word about the development of Corsairs 4 ... And where else to remind about yourself if not at exhibitions of this level.
Sorry, _anry_, you're right about the fan-handed games. I have my own experience - "Cursed Lands" Nival (Nival Interactive). A very cool game for that time. But the sequel was made by the fans - "The Cursed Lands. Lost in the Astral". Of course, I waited a long time for this continuation - and even now I like the original and the sequel, only in the sequel the game was completely bugged - it is impossible to go through some parts of the zone, otherwise it crashes to the desktop. The imbalance in the game is clearly seen - now we crawl, fearing all opponents, then, like the terminators, the regime is right and left - in the Cursed Lands it is simply excellent, but in the sequel ...

By the way, if my memory serves me, the announcement of Corsairs 4 was planned for Igromir 2008.
However, something didn't work out, and it took place only in the December issue of Igromania â„–12.
So the reminder can come from anywhere. And I am sure that the first message will come out that the project is financed again and the development is in full swing.
And fictions and all kinds of reminders like those that developers from 3D Realms have been slipping about their Duke for 10 years, I personally don't need nafig.
Exhibitions and Igromir in particular is not an indicator. They usually show gameplay, teasers and game trailers. It is unlikely that the developers have new material that can be shown to fans. As well as money to prepare for exhibitions.
The project is frozen, and that says it all. There will be no ads, no new shots, and no game details until funding sources become available.
And about all sorts of exhibitions.
Developers' exhibitions are primarily sent by project publishers / investors. By the way, the money of the same investors and the time (weeks, sometimes even months!) That could be spent on the development of the game are spent on preparing for them. Corsairs 4 do not have an investor, therefore information that we may suddenly hear will not appear at the exhibition, but in some article of the magazine in the form of an interview with a developer, taken on the initiative of the same magazine.
