Music Problem (Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver)
At the start of the game, the music starts to turn off from time to time (a few seconds plays, a few seconds - no). Also, loading saves began to take much longer. There are problems with cutscenes, the sound is intermittently cut off, the same phrase can be repeated several times. Portals take much longer to load. Of the changes in the computer since the normal operation of the game, only the replacement of the video card with a GeForce GTX 1060. I tried to change the settings at startup, it did not help. What to do?Update: the next day, with one start, it worked fine, and during the rest it worked just like it did.

The update itself was installed without problems: 7 Pro SP1 x64 - face image (VL, not assembly "from Vasyan") with a KMS activator.
... KB2670838 and KB3033929 are already there ... KB4474419 installed, it did not help ...
Of these three, only the first is needed in games (and even then not always) - the latter two refer to digital signatures in the OS (they can be omitted). Personally, I had 3033929 required by one program before installing, and installed 4474419-v3 because without it The Division 2 "swore" for absence - it worked, but every time before launching there was a warning.

Downloaded the GOG edition, at first everything was unchanged. Then at old-games ru I downloaded the patch for XP, installed it on this version. And now the cutscenes are going pretty well! The hang-ups are nowhere near as significant as they were before. It happens that a second repeats a segment many times in a split second and that's it. Not critical. The game itself hasn't stopped hanging, it's just that now it does it a little differently. If earlier everything was fine with the video (for the most part), and the music periodically disappeared for a few seconds, now both sound and video hang in the same way. But at the same time, nothing is lost, it just slows down, as if I had 10 FPS.
I did all the actions that I describe further AFTER the patch of the GOG version, and all the same does not help

What patch, what is it for? - although I just started playing (it looks like I will have to go through the 3rd time, before that I was completely on the PlayStation and Dreamcast), but on the 7-ke it seems to go fine, only videos with a resolution of 640 * 480 (and the "logo" 320 * 240) and had to be customized via Xpadder. In the game itself (before launch), you can select drivers for video and audio.

Started playing - while there were no serious problems with the sound, I noticed only small "wheezing", apparently due to its compression. In the folder with the installed game, I found only 2 files (archives) with names similar to sound ones - "music.dat" (~ 106 Mb) and "voices.dat" (~ 144 Mb), which is not enough by today's standards.

No mods / crackers. I remember that around this time I was putting on a theme for Windows, but this is clearly not the case, tk. I tried to remove it, but after that the game didn't work normally.

more. In one place, my sound lagged - some of the music and sound effects disappeared. Preserved, re-logged - everything is fine. The sound in the game is so-so, sometimes some "hiss" and "clicks" are heard. Above I wrote about the size of audio files, maybe at some point an error occurs when extracting them from the archive.
Do other games have this? - if everything is fine, perhaps the reason is in the game itself. If I have problems with sound, then in old games, in newer ones I can't remember.

installed myself for fun. The settings menu has been improved: you can set the mode to 60 fps (instead of the standard 30), select the subtitle language. Now you do not need to choose your resolution every time, it enters automatically.

Finally! Thanks to the one who posted it, I just found it. I liked the patch myself - as for me, the sound became better (before there were small sound artifacts, like when clipping, now it seems to have disappeared), the 60 fps mode is generally beautiful - playing is much more comfortable.
