Genre: Action / Adventure Developer: Big Red Button Entertainmen (Wii U), Sanzaru Games (3DS) Publisher: SEGA Platform: Wii U, 3DS Release date: second half of 2014

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTP-JbDBSCw&feature=youtu.be

A little bit of information:

[spoil] * The director of Big Red Button does not deny that his experience with Uncharted has influenced the way Sonic Boom looks and plays. (Wii U) Despite this, he does his best to keep the Sonic game as a Sonic game, and not something like Jack & Rachet with other characters.
* All games are developed with the support of the Sonic Team.
* The Wii U version will heavily use the Wii U GamePad.
* The Wii U version is based on CryEngine 3.
* The Wii U version will have a local co-op for 2 people.
* The Wii U version will run at a minimum of 30 FPS, although the developers want to do better.
* Games released in 2014.
* The plot of the games will unfold on an ancient land.
* The games are a prequel to the cartoon.
* There will be many places for exploration and hand-to-hand combat.
* Do not forget about moving at high speeds, but this will not be the main feature of the gameplay.
* In the passage of most zones, 2 characters will participate at the same time, in battles with bosses - all 4.
* In the game there will be power-ups and the design of the levels will be done in such a way as to make the most of the capabilities of the characters for exploring the terrain.
* Each of the characters will have a so-called EnerBeam - an energy whip. He will help them solve puzzles, climb into hard-to-reach places, and so on. Where the heroes got it from is not an unimportant part of the game's plot.
* The games will not have an open world, but the levels are large enough to evolve the gameplay towards exploring the terrain. There will be a lot of side content.
* Amy will play the role of an archaeologist and will know much more about the surrounding area. Anyway, Amy, just like all the other characters, decided to give a bigger role than usual.
* In addition to the previous point - the gameplay for all the characters is different, this is done in order to emphasize that all the characters are the main ones and should work in a team, and not, as is usually the case - Sonic and a bunch of assistants.
* In games we will see both new and old characters.
* The 3DS version will have a level structure similar to Sonic Adventure.
* Versions for 3DS and Wii U will vary greatly in both gameplay and storyline. Both games will have a plot based on the need to stop an ancient evil that is even more terrible than Eggman. Yes, Eggman is not the main villain of the game.
* Rumor has it that Sonic games will be released annually with alternation - one year there will be a game from the Sonic Boom universe from Sega of America, in another from the Modern Sonic universe from Sonic Team.
* More information about games will be announced at E3 2014.

In general, what am I thinking ...

At first there was a state of shock, since I really had enough experiments, but here he is much more radical than before. What can be seen at least by the design of the characters: http://forums.gamemag.ru/topic/114141-sonic-boom-sega-%D0%BE%D1%84%D0%B8%D1%86%D0%B8%D0 % B0% D0% BB% D1% 8C% D0% BD% D0% BE-% D0% B0% D0% BD% D0% BE% D0% BD% D1% 81% D0% B8% D1% 80% D0% BE% D0% B2% D0% B0% D0% BB% D0% B0-% D0% BD% D0% BE% D0% B2% D1% 8B% D0% B9-% D0% BF% D0% BB% D0% B0% D1% 82% D1% 84% D0% BE% D1% 80% D0% BC% D0% B5% D1% 80-% D1% 81 / page-6 # entry3914535

But! I'm a fan of Sonic all over my head and I even liked Lost World (except for the terrible 3DS version). Therefore, having calmed down and finding more detailed information on the Internet, I simply comprehended everything that was happening.

First of all, it should be mentioned that this game is an advertisement for the upcoming animated series Sonic Boom and, in fact, all this is its prehistory. As a game, even if this is a very daring experiment, but it can be justified by the fact that it will not replace this initiative of Sega of America and the MODERN series of Sega of Japan. These are two different universes and they will coexist together, alternating each year with each other (if, of course, Sonic Boom burns out as a new franchise).

Bearing in mind this factor of not infringing on the legacy of Sonic Generations, you can take a sober look at the character design. Colored animals, despite all their bandages, finally got a clear personality and appearance corresponding to their type. Knuckles is strong, breaks stones, crawls along walls, rolls enemies with his bare paws - he is big and pumped up in appearance. Sonic is fast and not serious - he looks loose, long legs, disheveled thorns. Teils pilot and mechanic - gave him wind-proof goggles and a wrench. Amy ... Amy - TP. And it looks like TP here too. Well, at least glory to the eggs, she now does not play the role of exclusively TP, running after Sonic - now she is an archaeologist (joke about Ancharted) ...

But as they promise, not only the appearance has changed. Previously, in Sonic games, games were only about Sonic. But here the idea is that all the characters are the main ones and at least two characters are involved in any game situation. With this, personally, I also have hope for online multiplayer. Also, my joy is connected with the fact that there are only four heroes now and there are no cats that talk with difficulty. Although, Big Red Button will still have many chances to draw a bouncing chest for Rouge and play Shadow as pretentious as possible.

Even if someone does not like all of the above, the picture in the game is very, very impressive. CryEngine 3, no kidding. A riot of colors and shadows, a huge amount of details, shaders and other beauties. And so far there are no checkered rocks at close range. For the same Wii U version, 30 frames per second are already guaranteed, but they promise to increase this value. The 3DS version, of course, will not pull CryEngine 3, and most likely Dimps will share the engine left over from Lost World, and so it gives out a good picture.

The Ancharted and Ratchet legacy seems to be beneficial, as you can see from the game's appearance. There you can also see the habits of the open game world, which in my memory happened only in Sonic Dark Brotherhood - but it was generally an RPG. I don't take Adventure into account, because the openness of the world there was due only to a couple of small locations. But there will be no open world, although the levels will be made large enough for research. The 3DS version is made in a completely different way with a different gameplay and plot, the basis for it will be the patterns of the same Adventure.

My personal reason for rejoicing is that the current Sonic games are about speed, and this one won't be! Yes, Sonic here can run fast and all that. But since the days of Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes, the games in the series have been mainly controlled by speed, not Sonic. People have forgotten how in the nineties she did not occupy such a huge part of the gameplay, but played a supporting role for platform mechanics. Over time, everything became exactly the opposite. I cannot say that this is bad. But what has become worse - I will say.

What is the bottom line? As a replacement for the main MODERN-series, I would perceive it in the same way as cancer cells in my body. But as a new, parallel experiment - why not? Moreover, the differences are striking and will draw on a very solid platformer with riddles like Zelda. I'm expecting at least 85 points for the Wii U version. I do not cherish any particular hopes for 3DS without details for the time being, but I hope for at least 75 points. Well, give Dimps freedom at last, let them continue to make their own portable Sonic - they do it perfectly if no one is behind their backs.

Well, also now I will collect all screenshots-art-videos on my dropbox account. I'll post the links later.

[member = 'Huang'] that CryEngine 3 runs on Wii U has long been known: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/20/crytek-cryengine-3-beautiful-on- wii-u

Shadow of the Eternals was still developed on it, which did not live up to release due to the failure of the kickstarter.

I urge you to take another look here. There are new arts, screenshots, videos, photos of the developers, as well as a trailer in 60 frames.

Well, a set of gifs, of course. For example, such:

There is also an Other folder for game content. There is one interesting video there - a video of projects being developed by CryEndine 3 licensees, which was shown at GDC 2013. From the very beginning, an unnamed Big Red Button project was shown ...

By the way, yes, very similar, only here four muzzles are running. I hope that the ones developed in some interview will not weigh something like "we were inspired by sonic hirous! 1", then you can immediately cryopr0JDAD.gif

"we were inspired by sonic hirous! 1"

We have already said what they were inspired by. This is Adventure and a classic trilogy.

I hope a similar freak will not work in the end ...

Why is it so immediately negative. Sonic Heroes was very good at creating a gameplay that was different from everything else. And the levels were built with serious forks. Combining abilities, controlling three heroes at once - it was very interesting.

It was not this that killed the game, but bugs and unfinished mechanics. Due to the inaccuracy in the player's movements, one could easily fall into the abyss. The same Knuckles and any other power character, when carrying out punches, becomes almost uncontrollable and if you fight on the edge, then with a probability of 90 percent you will fall. When running, you should be afraid of the curbs of the roads like fire - it is very easy to fall through them or simply stop at a simple junction of textures throughout the course. The rails there are very funny, but God forbid you press the jump button on them ...

I don't want to remember the casino level as one of the worst dreams at all.

But at least the music is decent:

Sonic Heroes would be more or less decent if we didn’t have to go through the same levels 4 times in order to fight with the head chief. And the levels are mostly terrible, for the casino developers have to tear their hands off altogether.

In the sonics, the music is always decent, I never worry about that at all. So what, what, and Sega's composers have what they need.

Bullet Station is one of the best levels in Sonic games in my opinion. I'm ready to go through it forever.

Hang Castle also stands out very favorably for its style and a good idea of turning upside down:

[youtube] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHP-1AshtQw [/ youtube]

Oh yeah, more details:

- The project intended to be multiplatform, but due to an exclusive deal with Nintendo, this did not happen.
- Big Red Button, SEGA and OuiDO (the animation studio that makes the Sonic Boom cartoon) exchanged ideas with each other about what exactly can be added to the game and the cartoon.

- Stephen hopes to make more Sonic Boom games.

- The studio, right before the development itself, established their canons about such things as what the game world will be like and what the characters will be.

- There were tons of design options for the new Sonic until we settled on Sonic in a scarf.

- Big Red Button is working with Crytek to make CryEngine 3 show a picture for two players in a co-op game - one on a tablet pad and one on a TV.

- By and large, the game evades a co-op for two characters at the same time. And only occasionally - all four.

- When playing alone, you can switch between characters (apparently, like in LEGO games).

- At the beginning, the developers had a very gloomy attitude towards the new game, they were frightened by the critics, who were usually always unhappy with the new Sonic. But then this attitude changed. As you can see from the words of Bob Rafay (head of Big Red Button), the way out of the depression was helped by meeting and working with Evan Bailey, the main producer of the new animated series. And they were pleased to see that Evan also loves to play video games. Once they got together, the studio no longer had any worries or worries.

Well, about what, in fact, Evan is like: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1761183/

- "I think we're building a much bigger Sonic world than we would usually."

And I honestly can't understand the context of the proposal. Literally, this means: "I think we are creating a much larger world for Sonic than usual." But whether this applies "than usual" to the work of the studio or to other game worlds of Sonic in general - that's another question.

By the way, the interview itself: http: //www.computera...nventing-sonic/

It is quite possible that now the story will turn out to be the opposite of the one with Lost World. Then everyone was waiting for a more or less high-quality game by Sonic, but it turned out shit. Now everyone a priori shit the new Sonic, since the latter was shit, but in reality something quite sane will turn out. I was personally attracted by Boom. Let's see what happens in the end.
