There will be another remaster on the KEX engine later this year or early next.

The source code of the game logic was also posted (not the engine).

Cool, I love this company for the restoration of the classics, I hope they will eventually grow together with NOLF.

3D Realms showed a prototype of SiN 2. This is exactly the version on id Tech 4 years ago since 2003. It has long been known that they made demos on the DooM3 engine, you can even find a couple of renders of Blade and Elexis from this version on the network, but now there is a video called SiN Reborn.

Actually, none of the publishers took the game then, and then SiN Episodes appeared. I remember Levelord said something like "making games for too long is idiocy and a waste of money." And yes, if anyone doesn't know, it was Ritual, not Valve, who came up with the idea for the episodes.

Spoiler

The former QA Ritual played "SiN Episodes: Emergence" and gave details on the development and other episodes. This does not sound like crazy, and the information on the second episode agrees with what
Russell Meakim told 6 years ago . Therefore, here are some details:

The second episode was about 25-30% ready. Episodes 1-3 were supposed to be the story of Radek. At the end of Episode 6, one of the key characters was supposed to die based on the player's choice. Episodes 7-9 focused on completing Elexis's story - she could choose to either die or go to jail, etc. In the first episode, all the variations of Elexis are different versions of her, not just one. At the end of the original game, Elexis dematerializes. And the departing rocket is divided into 4 parts, each of which has its own copy. As planned, Blade's bullet, passing through the dematerializing body, ruined the process, which is why all 4 copies are now different from each other and represent one of the sides of Elexis' personality.
One of the capsules fell into the data center. It contained "Elexis the Scientist" and is represented in the game as a hologram.
The second capsule was discovered - Blade interacted with it. It had a replica of Elexis' sexual side and is now inside Blade. Elexis in a bikini from hallucinations is just her. It was mentioned that initially she was completely stripped, but the developers still decided to censor this moment (echo of the "hot coffee" GTA: SA).
The third capsule contained a version reflecting her criminal and business side. In the game, she is presented as the physical embodiment of the intro. The injection given to Blade at the very beginning is not a mutagen or a drug, but an attempt to pull herself out of Blade's body.
The fourth version is suddenly, Jessica. Represents the innocence of Elexis. At the end of the first episode, Jessica was injected with a different substance than Blade. The second episode was supposed to begin like this: Blade descends in a helicopter to the wreckage of Radek's helicopter (Radek himself lost his leg) for the sake of an antidote for Jessica. At this moment, a monster appears from the ground and drags Blade away with him. The game was supposed to have locations with an underwater arboretum (a laboratory that was captured by a giant mutated plant), a dam, etc. Jessica was made as a potential spin-off character for a third person game. In each new episode, it was planned to add 1-2 barrels to the arsenal. In the second, an electric weapon was to be added, which was supposed to suck energy from some places and charge others. It was mentioned about the third hostile side in the second episode. The first episode was supposed to have fists. However, as a result, the developers were unable to adequately remake the mount from HL2 - the fists were cut out. Blade keeps quiet corny because Source did not have a suitable system for conducting first-person dialogues. When the developers finally figured it out, it was already several months before the release. It was planned that Blade would speak fully in the second episode. The beginning of the first episode was significantly longer. There was a car ride, puzzle boxes, etc. However, all this was so long that the player received the pistol almost an hour after the start of the game. Monsters caught in the mutagen cloud had to mutate in the next stage. The dynamic complexity was broken at the start. The game has cutoff triggers that calculate the elapsed time from the previous trigger. If the player was too fast, the difficulty increased. However, in U4 Labs (the moment where you need to run through the hot cell), one of these triggers worked every tick of the server side - the longer the player was in it, the angrier the game became 30 times per second. Everything was complicated by the fact that the dynamic difficulty was not taken into account for battles at this level, but was turned on immediately after (apparently, after Quadralex). As a result, the game dumped tons of machine gunners on the player. There was even a case that someone got up in that trigger and left for 16 hours - the game became unrealistically evil. He also confirmed that the game was profitable. A couple of events that put an end to the game and the studio are not related to the game itself. Apparently one of the reasons was poor sales of Quake 4 and the canceled addon for it that the studio was working on. The addon was about 80% complete - all that was missing was the final voiceover and polish. In patch 1.3 there are multiplayer maps from it. Modified October 24, 2020 by Barnacle
