Disciples II wines =) The atmosphere is gothic, the music is gorgeous, I even like the combat system better (although there is no movement across the field). I still play!

Disciples are unambiguous.

I've played all parts of Heroes and all parts of Disiples. And the Heroes seemed to me somehow boring and I didn't want to play in any of the parts. Even the first part of Disiples I liked more than all of them, although I did not want to go through it either. But Disiples 2 and 3 are very good both in terms of the graph and in the gameplay and in the plot, they have such an atmosphere that the Heroes do not have.

Disciples and HoMM are very different in places.
Both games are cool;)
