What to replace the GTX 680 with
On the agenda was the question of replacing the stove.I collected the computer 5 years ago, so I moved a little away from everything and stopped closely following the news.
Briefly about the system:
Core i7-950
RAM 10GB
PSU for 1200W
Case with good cooling
In general, with our insane prices, I'm thinking of just taking the 690 off my hands, according to tests I see it plugs another 780 into the belt.
It just seems that the 900th series will not pull out the percent.
What do you think the old woman should give up on?
Options less than 4GB and AMD do not offer))
680 currently pulls all games normally, why change it? sit on it for another year and then change to a new generation of video cards

LOL I'm ashamed to ask, did you decide to buy such a power supply for yourself, or some wise guy advised. This is a server power supply unit, for comparison, my system with two 680 and three hard drives can handle 700W perfectly. This is the answer to your question. The best replacement for the 680 is two 680s, or already 980Ti. 690 is derated to avoid overheating of two cards in one case, so it is weaker, but the drawback is the same - the game must be compatible with SLI. Where it is a normal 680 in SLI, it also makes 980, so only 980Ti or TITAN X are cooler. So if the dough is not up to the point, buy a second 680 off your hands and don't worry, since the PSU allows you; D or wait for the next generation, but other options are down the drain.

this is constructive. Thank you. about the power supply unit - he was a fool, he was 16 years old, and he was advised)
in fact, he built the system very unsuccessfully. at that time socket 1155 appeared, well, everything is new on it.
and I, as a young man, chased the "top" at 1366. Now I regret it, because it is unrealistic to upgrade something other than memory and video, but I really want a pebble faster (

This is nothing, wisdom and impotence come with age. Now the very concept of an upgrade goes down in history, tk. manufacturers very quickly remove from production all hardware compatible with motherboards of the previous generation, stsuki! Including either immediately collect everything to the maximum, or then you will have to look for everything from the used hands. It is no coincidence that the sixth generation of GTX was removed from the sale immediately after the release of the seventh, it was understood that a pair of sixes had a performance potential for two generations ahead, or, at least, for the entire production period of the current generation consoles.
This percentage is worse than vishera ... the point was to sit on a powerful 680 with such a weak processor ... you lost up to 30% FPS in games because of it)))
just friendly advice ... change the stone too ...

yes, I myself understand what is needed,
but for what, the socket is ancient and higher only if which thread is 980
ild70
still has such a question about SLI, if you take the second one from your hands, in principle, no matter which manufacturer?
just worth MSI

it doesn't matter, there is where to upgrade the percent http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Xeon-X5680-vs-Intel-Core-i7-950, if the mother pulls
helio
uh, well, you compared ... with a lower stone ... my 6300 in overclocking to 4.3 GG will break this ancient .. i7 ...
If you have the core i7 950 without overclocking, it seems to me that he will not reveal the Gtx 680 either. Otherwise, it's better to buy a GTX 970 or wait for a new GPU.
Sam Smith
and what can I prove that AMD only after 3.5 years caught up with, but did not surpass the first generation I7)))
i7 950 release Q2 2009, FX-4300, FX-6300 release 23.10.2012
helio
so this is my pretense that the i7 is old ... which was long overdue to throw it out, that even my weak 6300 tears it into all the cracks ... and is 30% faster in games, 6300 even with 660 could not cope with it, what is did you carry you to the wrong steppe ??? if you like to breed srach, then new zen + are coming out soon, which are 20% faster than modern i7 4th generation
