280x in almost all games is faster than 960. In The Witcher 3 they are approximately equal, in GTA 5 280x gives 10 fps more, as in Wolfenstein and DAI, which is about 20%.
And if you decide to transfer to Nvidia, then the 960 is clearly not the best option.
