I have long wanted to play the first part of Alice. Saw a lot of positive reviews about this game. Many called it one of the best games of all time. Before I put on the Alice high expectations. But actually, unfortunately, my expectations by the end of the game turned into ashes...
Let's start with the cons:
First: what is hackneyed plot, I would even say more - there is no story... also the ending is crumpled so that from the game, after the credits, left a bitter aftertaste... Plus this is terribly monotonous fights, even despite the fact that all the enemies from each other, the idea is different, it is still by and large they can be divided into 3 types: enemies melee enemies, ranged, and flying opponents. And the opponents ranged easily turn into opponents melee and flying monsters on the fingers can be counted. In addition to the end of the game throw enemies at the player just packs. And the fighting becomes even more tedious and boring.
Second: a lot of different weapons. Yes, Yes, this game is a minus! Cell from 1 to 0 completely crammed with weapons. The idea of certain weapons more effectively-suited for destroying a certain type of enemy, but damn, when you run a pack of five opponents and they are all different kinds you are simply not physically able to switch each time for a certain weapon to quickly kill an opponent. If at the beginning you even bother to this, in the middle of the game frankly didn't care anymore. Personally, I only used: bombs, croquet mallet and a knife, well, at the end yet by barmaglot wand, and then only against bosses. The rest of the weapons are just useless, in my opinion.
Third: fucking maze! I hate mazes, and in the country of hearts Queen these mazes enough. Besides in the game there are places where you just happen not to notice the red aisle on a red background or a small door in the corner, where you need to go, despite the fact that not all the doors open. In addition, the design of some locations just depressing.. Everything is so monotonous that the whole picture is fused into a homogeneous mass...
Fourth: the battles with the bosses – this is my personal disadvantage because I do not "insert" to repeat the same actions 20-30-40 times.. besides some of the bosses just "hell" and they get stuck, and some did, like the last two, kill, Bang, without any problems at all.
And all these little cons at the end of the game accumulate, turning into a big ball of disappointment.. And the last shot, for me personally - it's certainly the last location before the last boss where you have to run back and forth, repeating the same actions already 4 (!) times... It's sad.. And if not the pros of this game I would probably have not mastered the "Alice" to the end and put it in your personal list of "failure games".
And these same advantages:
First: and perhaps this is the main, the big plus in this game! Yes, Yes, Yes - it's of course music! It is almost perfect. I even stayed just to hear the tune.
Second: story dialogue. Yes, there is no plot, but the dialogues are impregnated with subtle humor, psychology, philosophy. Though of course, not all dialogues are so interesting, but there is incredible – makes you wonder and speculate. In General, the dialogues in "Alice" by and large - these are separate from the plot, and indeed from the game, thoughts of the main characters, first and foremost, about life.
Third: this local bosses. Here is just a paradox - Yes, fighting bosses is not fun, but the bosses are very cool. Each boss is interesting, detailed and self-contained. Except perhaps the last boss – he is quite unintelligible.
Fourth: some locations do look very cool – chess Kingdom, Machinarium. But unfortunately much less than ordinary, unremarkable locations.
And the last plus is indescribable joy when I watch the final movie, my thoughts – well, finally I went through this ambiguous game!. Although once again - the joy is still with a taste of bitterness...

Liked the game and liked everything about it. The plot is interesting. The interpretation of fairy tales Carroll. The gameplay too much, each level is different and the atmosphere and gameplay and just in this game, a lot of raznobrazie. A lot of weapons and every uporotyh I want to try to make war. The graphics are also good for 2000. Few games had at the time that would compete with Alice on the line, well, except that Rune. And the more like there music. I'm a big fan of such music and soundtrack of Alice fascinated me. Love the game 10 out of 10 n and otherwise.
At one time, I played only in order to gawk at an alternative "biography" of the fabulous Alice and her real prototype, who lived in Carroll's time - Alice Pleasence Liddell. If it were a game about some other know-name girl who was almost killed in a fire for the sake of an inheritance, I would hardly have paid attention to the game. Without a recognizable name, this game is nothing.
