About taking life when hitting. I know one such hatchet (the one that Sand Spirit throws at Prince), it is picked up, for example, from a stand against the wall, in the room where you pick up the Scorpion Sword. Or when you become a Sand Spirit, the stand is nearby. You hit with it and life slowly fades away, but the hatchet is not bad in power. I think this completely compensates for its power.
PS: The "Skull" icon to the right of the weapon stat.'s, I think, indicates that the weapon sucks health out of you in one hit (on a hard difficulty level, a very small amount of health is sucked out), well, or it means that the weapon deadly. :)
And the "Shield" icon indicates that the weapon is stronger than its predecessors, that is, it will not break as quickly as others.
