Casual games. What are they?

Let's figure out here what kind of casual games we talk about very often and mostly with disdain. Let's talk about their future, about their popularity.

To begin with, I suggest reading the article from Wikipedia. This is not the last resort, but it provides good food for thought.

[b] Alchemiss [/ b], hehe) No, casuals sometimes just know the release date of PS3)))

Casuals are those who absolutely do not understand the gaming industry, play the same as the "surrounding", because that thinks it's cool. The logic is that the more people “do” something, the cooler the thing in relation to which they “do” something. Hence, casual is a mass consumer.

All this is purely on the experience of "communication" with such people. Well, IMHO, of course))

[b] Bernyfox [/ b], it's not just what you play, but also how you feel about these games. I remember rarely being in the computer. clubs, so, with friends together in something to drive ... There is a bunch of casuals. They only know "country", and do not know how to play. Prof. In esports duels, KS is a hardcore game, but in the hands of casual, it ceases to be a means of mass zombification. There is already a chain reaction - from one to another and atk to infinity. When meeting a person, apparently, sometimes playing, I am almost always met by the phrase "Do you play" cantra "? This is disgusting to me ...

Everything, as if I have to go to bed ...

Rockpool Games, one of Europe's leading mobile content developers, has announced the creation of SoGoPlay to develop casual games for personal computers, Gamesindustry reported.

The games will be available through the official SoGoPlay website, and users will also be able to get them through portals such as Real Networks, MSN and Big Fish Games. “Our strategy is two-fold: we plan to release downloadable PC games and also work on multiplayer online entertainment,” said Paul Gouge, CTO, Rockpool Games. In addition, Gauge noted that although the market for casual games covers a large audience, potential consumers of such products are not yet ready to spend significant funds on them.

The formal definition of casual games is that they are entertainment programs that do not simulate the world. This category covers products that have simple rules and plot, do not require any special skills or knowledge, and are aimed at a mass audience.

What do I see as a casual game?
Any "promoted" project that will be "devoured" by the consumer ...
Doom3 Douche Gothic3 ... all these games started with really worthwhile games ... but now these brands are stupidly chopping loot ... and make projects that will be "interesting "to a larger circle of people ... than their predecessors ... but fans of past episodes don't need all this :(
This applies to almost all new EA and Yubi-Soft tiles ... all their new games have a cool advertising base ... and I know that 90% of playing acquaintances will "devour" these projects and will wait and play them ...
