UPD 12:17 26.06: Updated installation instructions and links - executable files and patch are now in one archive.Half-Life 2: Survivor is a Japanese HL2 for Taito Type X arcade machines, released in 2006. These machines ran on Windows XPe, which made it easy to tweak the game to run on a regular PC, especially considering that the game's assets have recently become available for download.
So, to start the game you will need:
The game resources themselves (7z, 2.7 GB) torrent, mega;
Models, textures and sounds of HL2 before switching to the ep1 engine;
And everything else - corrected executable files + a patch for the normal passage of the single.
Putting everything together is quite simple: first, unpack the downloaded archive with resources, then unpack the resources of the original HL2 into HL2AC/hl2/ without replacing the files located there and throw the contents of the third archive on top of all this.
After all this, the game can be launched via HL2Survivor_RunMe.bat, where you can also correct the launch parameters. The standard resolution is 1360 by 768, it is better not to change it if possible - the interface will be crooked. If you remove -ac from the launch options, the game will start with a menu from the usual HL2, which will be invisible until the launch of any map.
If everything is done correctly, then after the introductory videos, the game will ask you to toss a coin or press "Start". To throw a coin (they are needed to continue the game after death, for example - without them it will be impossible to press the "Yes" button), you need to press F1. Do not get carried away with coins: if you press F1 too often or just hold it for a long time, the game will crash with a "Coin error" error.

To start the game, you need to press F2. Menu controls: arrows - navigation, LMB - selection, Ctrl - back (does not work everywhere).
After accepting the terms of the license agreement (in general, XZ what it really is, but it seemed to me like a license agreement), we find ourselves in the main menu, in which you need to select a mode.
Story mode - "plot", although in fact there is almost nothing left of the plot. The maps have been severely truncated, two or three of each chapter are left, some chapters have been cut out altogether. There are no scripted scenes, instead of them videos are inserted (which for some reason are blue and blinking, but this is crap with codecs, others should not have this). The game begins in the canals, there is no VFM, there is no trip to the buggy, in general, there is only running around-shooting. There are 10 chapters in total.
Battle mode is an analogue of DM with bots. In theory, bots spawn when there are too few players, but there are no players at all, since the master servers were turned off already in 2010, so yes, DM with bots.
Mission mode - so far xs how to call it.
Some menu items cannot be selected, because to open them you need to go through training, but it does not work yet.

Still, my problem in the 4th chapter is not in the 4_3 save (lol, the config and the 4_3 save are called, but the map is 4_5; in general, interestingly, it turns out that chapters 4_3 and 4_5 are on the same map, the only difference is saves made in different parts of the map...). Yesterday I went through the whole map normally, without a single hang. The secret is simple: don't crouch (or crouch jump) while using the boost. Most likely, the problem is global, on the next map it also got freezes, making jumps with crouching and acceleration. Before the coast, there was no need for such tricks, so there were no problems ... In 7k, perhaps there is no such problem, I will check.
In general, I even liked the 4_5 map, it is most different from the others, more original. Fighting in this location with soldiers is at least interesting. But the 5th chapter is just lol, in fact, from one card, divided into three pieces, they made a whole chapter. True, skill 3 burns incredibly on her, playing in the 5th and 6th chapter is very difficult! The problem is not even that the enemies take a hell of a lot of HP (although this is also the case), but that the camera shakes very strongly from hits, much more than on skill 1-2. However, I still mastered them with skill 3. Unexpectedly, my main weapon was... a feropod. I have already completed the game. Each card has been tried on skill 3 at least once, and often more, because of the hardcore. Quite funny, but the map with striders turned out to be easier for me than the previous one with combines (where you can hit the generators from the gravigan), perhaps because of the exorbitant number of soldiers ... It turned out quite funny, by the way, I hit the last third generator literally at the last second, the counter stopped at 0.27 (zero point 27 hundredths of a second). Too bad I didn't get a screenshot.
By the way, striders need quite a lot of missiles, not like with an attack aircraft in the 4th. Although in the 5th, on the way to the NP, those two dropships clearly need more than three missiles for skill 3.
But the strider in the Citadel made me sweat (however, he is not cute in the original, but you can easily miss him there).
I also note that the inscriptions "HIT!" and "Destroyed!" sometimes they are even useful, for example, they make it easier to determine the accuracy of fire from one or another weapon (AR2 pleases, if it had more rounds of ammunition, it would be easier on many maps, but alas, the rebels do not give anything, and you can’t control them, so here the rebels really get in the way and get underfoot), and they also shine through the walls - you can, for example, shoot a soldier with an altfire AP2 and hide behind the wall, and then watch the amount of "Destroyed" ^_^

Trying to run different maps from the usual HL2, I found that, in principle, they all work, but many freeze in certain places. The first map - almost immediately (the name of the game shows, and that’s all), but you can return to it a little from the second, which, in turn, freezes at the exit from the square, and you can return to it from the third, get to the square and again hang on the steps. The third map runs without problems. The fourth hangs when trying to climb the stairs. I did not try further, because it became clear to me that the reason for the freezes was in MP3 music. And this is not surprising, because Sevive has its own background music system, which is loaded by the bgm_file command and plays continuously. Even launching any map via the console, you will hear the default melody (it is easy to interrupt it by writing null.wav to the bgm_file config, where null. wav - empty sound, which should be in sound. Or maybe not to lie, s).
Given that EntEd and EntSpy exist, it is easy to find triggers that start music with their help and delete them along with the entities themselves (especially if you first study the decompiled sources), which I successfully did with all d1_trainstation_*. And everything worked! True, it still freezes during teleportation when dipping into the lake with icky, maybe I forgot something, or maybe something else ... But nevertheless, everything else works perfectly - scripts, scenes, sound ... of course, there is a difference compared to the usual HL2. First, it's a HUD. After setting it to 90, the graphon is indistinguishable from the usual HL2 on the old engine.
It should also be noted that the launch line is almost the same as for a regular game, but without the -ac parameter. Ie, and -game hl2mp is registered. And indeed, saves, screenshots - everything is done in hl2mp. And even the handles are white (the third person, by the way, shows emptiness and generally works somehow crazy, I had problems with control). And at the same time there are all the NPCs, scenes, dialogues. And this means that, most likely, it will be possible to pass a regular single with sevive guns.
However, after digging up the menu (you need to remove "OnlyInGame" "0" everywhere), and launching the game through New Game, I found that the game stopped seeing the autosave made. Because in the game, music is called like any sound by names like k_lab.labsounds, which means that they are registered in soundscapes and other sound scripts that are easy to delete / edit. Perhaps it will be possible to replace all mp3s with wav and everything will work fine (you can convert the same mp3s, at the same time we won’t lose the game music, calling it manually or using a script via bgm_file will definitely not bring pleasure to the player).
