Small upgrade
Hello. Such a situation is that there is a computer with the following parameters Athlon x4 640, Radeon hd 5670 512mb, 4gb ram, and a power supply like 450, or. 550.I will need to spend about half a year on it, and I would like to play something) completely upgrade, there is no way to spend money now. And here's the question: if I just change the video card, for some Bu, costing 50-60 dollars, (GeForce gt 640, Radeon 6670), can I play the latest games, and games of 15.14 years, at least at low ones, medium settings, hd resolution, but no lags, at least 30 - 40 FPS?
Or the processor will not pull everything smoothly, and there is no point in changing the video card?
Now, for example, dying light, at minimum settings, in hd resolution, is played with brakes. I think about 20 - 26 fps.
Thank you

NB Frequency bet x8 1880? Are you sure? Did you say that this is the memory frequency, and should be no more than 1330?
Can I test in Hades, just a CPU test? It kind of loads norms, but not as hard as FPU.
THERE there is also HT Bus 16 bit, 8 bit. worth Auto. and leave?
Mr. Freeman
Thank you buddy, you opened my eyes! Throwing out my computer, running to buy like yours. thank you brother
Zefir4ik_kefir4ik Yes, I looked at the overclockers forum, NB Frequency is associated with NT Bus Speed, its value is x4 940, and NB Frequency is respectively twice as high - 1880. The memory frequency is set to Memory clock, at 3525 MHz, set the RAM to 626 - 1253
In Aida, you can really set the CPU test only, it really does not load the percent so hard.
And why did no one tell him that a mother for overclocking is not suitable at all, and even on a boxed cooler? The collective farm is cool on the feed, otherwise it will burn out.
TwinFrozr
Karoche, tried to put 235, with your prompts. Windows did not boot.
Slightly reduced, to 230, the frequency was somewhere 3450. Windows loaded, started the CPU test, the computer rebooted. In general, I'll probably leave this business until I burned everything))
Zefir4ik_kefir4ik Well, then lower the frequency of the processor to 3400 MHz and the father-in-law on it, if it hangs during the test, then put 3350 at this frequency, I'm sure it will work stably, but at first the test at 3400 MHz is quite possible that the percentage will plow stably on it.
TwinFrozr
Yes, there is probably no point in raising it to 3400, 3350. What can be the increase in FPS in games?
She no longer wants to try, take risks) Apparently it's not mine)
Zefir4ik_kefir4ik What risks are you talking about? The risks of overclocking without raising the voltage correspond to about 0.0%. By the way, it is quite possible to drive both the kernel and memory using msi afterburner, and it goes without saying that FurMark and games can be tested. Overclocking the processor along with vidyahy is quite capable of adding FPS in games.
TwinFrozr
Well xs , I don't know why the computer reboots after overclocking) apparently not everything is so good)
Yes, if you drive vid.hu and percent, you can get an increase, but I definitely don't want to drive vidyuhu. the case is not very good, and there are no coolers. In general, thanks for the help) Maybe then somehow I'll try to overclock the percentage, but for now I'll leave it as it is)
Zefir4ik_kefir4ik So at what frequency is the reboot to 3400 MHz? So it is quite safe to drive vidyuhu if you do not increase the voltage on it and is easier than percent and it will warm up by 1-2 degrees more than not overclocked, set the frequency in msi afterburner 1100 MHz for the core and 1200 MHz for memory and test it in games and FurMark , if there are no artifacts and glitches, then just save the settings and put them in autoload, and if it podglyuchitsya then just reduce the frequency in 10 MHz steps until you find the maximum stable frequencies.
Zefir4ik_kefir4ik
does not need to rush to conclusions and "give up on yourself." The potential of the processor itself plays an important role in overclocking. Not all "stones" are equally good at overclocking: some can be overclocked almost on the first try, others need to sweat, and still others can chase so badly in general that the benefits of overclocking tend to 0. In addition, the Internet is full of detailed instructions for overclocking, for sure there is even infa specifically for your mat. board and processor, perhaps you missed something or there is some feature that can affect the overclocking process (for example, a motherboard revision or a BIOS version).

For some reason it seems to me that everything rests on the RAM. I'm doing something wrong with the frequencies. Or perhaps, because the second level I have is a Chinese non-name, only for amd processes. Xs karoch.
I tried to overclock up to 3390. The system booted, the CPU test passed normally, the temperature rose by 2 degrees. CPU 60, cores somewhere around 50. I tried to run Assasin creed Syndicate, it went into the game, but when the level started loading, the computer rebooted.
Zefir4ik_kefir4ik
Passing tests normally does not guarantee that there will be no problems due to overclocking. I remember when I overclocked my percent, then in all tests everything was fine and in the games that were installed at that time, there were no problems either, but when I installed "Stalker", then crashes began at the same time intervals. Reducing overclocking helped. I don't think this applies to your situation yet, but just keep in mind that it happens sometimes.
At the expense of reboots: the BIOS has parameters that are responsible for restarting the computer if it (or rather the processor or motherboard) warms up to a certain temperature. So there you can either disable this function, or increase the value of the temperatures at which this happens, although it is still better to solve the issue by improving cooling.

I do not think that the computer is rebooting due to overheating. percent at that time was heated somewhere at 55. Well, the motherboard, perhaps
Played in a thunderstorm) Lightning struck somewhere nearby, the computer passed out. Turned on, turned on normally, but there is no Internet. apparently the network card burned out :(
As I understand it, you can buy a discrete one, they cost a penny. But is it safe to continue working on such a motherboard?
Check if the Network is really burnt out. And not on the side of the provider the problem after a thunderstorm. In a switch or so on.
If the network card is for sure! The
disabled in the BIOS - LAN and play.
Zefir4ik_kefir4ik
The lack of internet might just be a coincidence. If the computer suffered from a thunderstorm, then, most likely, one network card would not have done it. Another option is the provider's equipment could be damaged.

Internet is available, the router is working fine. and the network card in the device manager is displayed with a triangle, and writes that the device does not start. I think everything is clear here) and the light in the back does not light up when the lan cable is inserted.
As I understand it, I still got off lightly. The motherboard could burn out, and everything in it.
If I buy a pcie network card, just insert it, and everything will be ok?
Although, TVs now cannot connect to Wifi. xs what's happening The
router also flew a little) the light is on that I inserted the cable into the connector where the cable from the computer used to be, even if I pulled out the cable. Campaign burned down the network card, and burned out the connector in the router. I will try to return the router under warranty)
While there is a spare.

Most likely, yes, but you will know for sure only when you put it.

Even if you say that it just stopped working and you do not know what happened to it, it will be returned as soon as it detects reflow in the connector, because the case is not guaranteed anyway.
Len4ik00N
That there is no reflow. I do not think that it is visually visible there that something burned out. You can try)

As far as I understand, your LAN port is on - when the cable is not connected.
A neighbor had this after a thunderstorm router Tplink 841. The router showed port 4 as connected - but the router was not connected anywhere and did not work with VAN at all.
I took apart the router - and cut the path leading to this port.
There is a vidos on YouTube of what and where to cut. 5 seconds of the case.
As a result, the router started working - and we lost only one port.
The thunderstorm is not a guarantee case, as described above.
