Small upgrade
Hello. Such a situation is that there is a computer with the following parameters Athlon x4 640, Radeon hd 5670 512mb, 4gb ram, and a power supply like 450, or. 550.I will need to spend about half a year on it, and I would like to play something) completely upgrade, there is no way to spend money now. And here's the question: if I just change the video card, for some Bu, costing 50-60 dollars, (GeForce gt 640, Radeon 6670), can I play the latest games, and games of 15.14 years, at least at low ones, medium settings, hd resolution, but no lags, at least 30 - 40 FPS?
Or the processor will not pull everything smoothly, and there is no point in changing the video card?
Now, for example, dying light, at minimum settings, in hd resolution, is played with brakes. I think about 20 - 26 fps.
Thank you
MAIBATSU
I wanted to ask how this card is in games, but I looked at the rest of your pc's config and realized that everything is fine with you)))
Does this card require additional power? connect to the Power Supply, or something?
Zefir4ik_kefir4ik Additional
power is needed, two 6-pin connectors (usually, some manufacturers may differ).
Aelix86
yeah. Do you need a special power supply for this? how much power is needed for this?
You can try to increase the memory to 8 GB
and put any trash card with 2 GB. then maybe some modern games can be played.
but it seems to me it will be an empty waste of money and there will be no stable game.
I looked at my power supply, there is some kind of x style, 460W. Didn't find any additional connectors. Does this mean that without replacing the power supply, hd5870 will not shine for me?)

I have an additional power supply for a video card on the power supply unit, if you do not have one, then just buy an adapter (6-pin cable - Molex x2). In my city, it costs 80 rubles.

I googled, but something very confused. I have two wires sticking out of the PSU that are not involved. One, this is 6pin, as I understand it, the second did not understand what kind of wire)
And what should I do with this? If I buy an adapter, where should I stick the wire from the adapter?
Zefir4ik_kefir4ik
I have 2x 6 + 2 pin on the power supply for the video card. If you have only one 6pin input for a video card, then you will need to put the second one through an adapter, you need it into two independent molex inputs of the power supply, and 6pin, therefore, into the video card. If you don't have enough molex outputs, you can buy some Molex to Molex power cables.
did not quite understand, but I will understand. Will a 460w power supply be enough for me for this video?
What do you think of radeon Hd 7770 ??? As I understand it, this card does not need additional food. and how is it performance? not inferior to hd5870?
Zefir4ik_kefir4ik
Wow, you're so tight!
5870 = 6970 = 7850 = 265 and don't ask stupid questions about 7670 and other crap! Ie, this is 265 in overclocking, well, what was banned in Google?
And you need to take the version for 2 gigs.

You helped me a lot with your message! What nonsense did you write at all? I asked about 7770, what does 7670 have to do with it?
I settled on 5870, but found out that I needed a good bp for it. I'm not sure what mine will pull. So I'm asking about 7770.
Come on, first, you’ll learn to talk to people, and then you’ll go with advice? Yes, I'm not good at vidyuhi, but this is not a reason to be rude to me, and carry some kind of nonsense

Why don't you want to sell it, save up and buy a good, very powerful bakery?

Yes, in any case, somewhere in half a year I will buy either a console or a powerful computer. Now finances are going for repairs))
I just thought that with my configuration, I wouldn't be able to play anything at all, but it turned out that the games even start (Dying light)
So I thought that if I replace the vidyuhu, I might be able to play comfortably)
Prudish Mouseyvur
What are you asking about?)
If about the console, then ps4 definitely, ifm about vidyuhu, then see the posts above with reasoning)
SonyK.
With a resolution of 1280 by 720, I'm basically comfortable. But naturally, the more the better. At least 1600 can?
What is video memory responsible for? Does it make sense to overpay for 2 GB?

Mainly for the quality of textures. As the owner of the same CPU as yours (see profile), I can say that 2 GB of video memory is not superfluous now. Just don't take a vidyuhu with GDDR3 - it is unlikely that its bandwidth will allow you to comfortably play modern games.
At least 1600 can?
The higher the screen resolution, the greater the load on the system. Decide for yourself what you need - higher graphics settings in games at low resolutions, or lower at high resolutions. If you want more beautiful and more resolution - save up for an upgrade, there will be no miracle on weak hardware.
Does it make sense to overpay for 2 GB?
I "overpaid" (if you consider an overpayment of 4 tr for a new video card bought in a store) and I do not regret it - in games (especially newer and more beautiful) I "eat" more than 1 GB of video memory. Example - I recently passed Hard Reset Redux right after version 2011. The game "moved" from DX9 to DX11 and began to "eat" more - on the "old" I consumed up to 1 GB of video memory, the updated one - up to 1.5 GB at maximum settings ...
Spoiler Look at the MEM in the upper left corner of the video:
Hard Reset - 2011
Hard Reset Redux - 2016
The power supply is some kind of Chinese no-name, apparently. Even the search does not produce anything. I would like to see a photo of the label of this miracle, otherwise it suddenly gives out 15A at 12V. Although you can't really trust them either ...

for $ 60 the best you can get (taking into account the power of your power supply) is a Radeon 7770 or something similar from the "green" ones, if you're lucky, you can find an option with 2 GB of memory, but it's unlikely for such a price. It is better not to take video cards of the GT series from NVidia (not to be confused with GTX), even if you come across options with 2 or 4 GB of video memory, because the cards are not game cards and there will be very little sense from this amount of memory.
If you also add 4 GB of RAM, then, for example, in GTA 5, you can play at medium-high settings.
