I was treated with the steam version of kotor.
Was the problem with the crash when creating a character and loading a new game.
Option manipulation is added to the. ini file and setting the compatibility to win xp did not pass.
Decided so turned off in the game menu, in the video settings->advanced settings EXT. effects(frame buffer effects) and soft shadow(soft shadows) and just say that you updated the game via swupdate.exe (the one that is in the game folder) to version 1.3 english before.
System is win7 sp1 x64. Stone and video from AMD.

Turned off extra effects, and I rushed home, and then a week ipulse with this evil spirits, the stone from AMD 8 cores and the video too, thought the problem is too new hardware, but in fact, only in this, thank you, plus you in your head ;)
And the first Kotor works as it should with no problems, and the second flew after character creation, and here it helped to disable the extra effects :)
