Leak: Streets of Rage 4 will receive an expansion that will bring back the old villain
Reddit user mikesaintjules discovered an unannounced extension page for the old-school action Streets of Rage 4 on SteamDB.
Recall that in August 2020, Dotemu published in its microblog that Streets of Rage 4 would not remain without additional content, but since then, no new details have appeared.
Judging by the entry on the SteamDB website, the upcoming addon is called Mr. X Nightmare. It can be assumed that the DLC is dedicated to Mr. X - the main villain from the first installments of Streets of Rage.
As part of the main plot of Streets of Rage 4, the antagonist did not appear (his children were puffed up instead), but the battle with him from Streets of Rage 2 could be found on a secret level.
In what form will Mr. X return to Mr. X Nightmare - if this really happens - is unknown. The expansion page on SteamDB does not provide any further details.

Streets of Rage 4 will receive the Mr. X Nightmare - with three characters and survival mode
When the DLC will be released, it has not yet been specified.
One of the three additional characters will be Estelle Aguirre, who was the boss in Streets of Rage 4. The other two heroes to be added to the DLC are to be revealed at a later date.
The bitemap will also include a survival mode with weekly challenges, additional moves, opponents and weapons, and several music tracks from T Lopes, known for working on tracks for Sonic Mania and League of Legends.
Supplement Mr. X Nightmare has already received a page on Steam, but the cost of the DLC on it has not yet been indicated.
Together with the paid add-on, Streets of Rage 4 will receive a free update - with it, the New Mania + difficulty level, a training system for various techniques and a new color palette will appear in the game.

The battle will continue in Wood Oak City.
After the events of Streets of Rage 4, our heroes decided to prepare for further threats. Axel, Blaze and their friends will start a special, crazy workout. Dr. Zan, who developed an artificial intelligence program based on the surviving brain cells of Mister X and capable of simulating any potential danger.
Get ready for a new DLC, and with it for:
• 3 new playable characters
• A new Survival mode with weekly challenges
• Personalization of characters: create a unique fighting style using new techniques
• New opponents and weapons!

In general, the DLC is just a bomb, I went through the plot for Shiva, I also checked out the survival mode, although it has reached level 21 so far, but still, new locations and techniques are pleasing, finally they added a separate training mode that everyone asked for. And Ru also appeared in the game
Spoiler
Streets of Rage 4 - Anniversary Edition in a box for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch is scheduled for September 28th. The physical media will host both the game itself and the recently released Mr. X Nightmare. For this you will be asked for $ 39.99.
The game was released in April 2020 on PC (Steam and GOG.com), Xbox One / Windows 10 (Xbox Game Pass), PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Focus Home acquires Dotemu, publisher of Windjammers 2 and Streets of Rage 4
As part of the corporation behind A Plague Tale: Innocence and Vampyr, Dotemu will remake and sequel the first 3D console games.
Focus Home acquired 77.5% of Dotemu's shares: 70% from Oryx Finance, 7.5% from Cyril Imber, head of the publishing house. He retained his post as CEO of Dotemu and remained its shareholder - Imber owns the remaining 22.5% of the shares. Cyril Imber will also serve on Focus Home's management team and lead the company's new division that will publish games from independent developers.
The deal between Focus Home and Dotemu was worth 38.5 million euros. Focus Home owners will pay another 15 million euros to Dotemu if the publisher meets the set revenue targets by December 2022.
Dotemu will maintain "strategic independence" while receiving support from Focus Home to promote and control the quality of games. The publisher will also be able to tackle more ambitious games, including remakes and sequels of the first 3D games released in the early 2000s.
